As an extension of my music hobby, I started working on electronics in late 2010. I mostly create synthesizers, modules, and effect units for use in music creation. You can view details for some of my creations below.
Bit Beast
The Bit Beast utilizes a method of tone generation commonly called ‘bit banging’. It turns a digital bit on and off at the frequency of specific notes. This method of creating sounds is typical of old videogame and computer systems.
Megatron
My goal with this project was to create a MIDI and voltage controlled bass synth similar to the Minitaur, Mopho and Microcon, while keeping the ribbon control from the Monotron.
C-MOnSter
The C-MOnSter Synth is my first DIY synth project, and my first electronics project ever. It all start in the fall of 2010. I was looking up information on building your own fishing rods, and in the list of suggested videos was a series called How to Build a Synthesizer.
UM-TSS
This is a simple drum machine that takes a clock signal, sends it through a divider, and uses the first three divisions for the rhythm.
CMOS 1-bit FIR Filter
The idea for this experiment came while chatting with some other synth builders about digital FIR filters.
A Different Kind of DCO
My goal was to create a method for converting a square wave to a sawtooth wave with minimal parts that was useful for Lunetta synths.
